DEMS  Licenced Assessors conduct air monitoring during and after the removal of asbestos works. We measure fibre levels of any airbourne asbestos to check the effectiveness of control measures implemented by the Licenced Asbestos Removalists. The removal of friable asbestos involves isolating the removable work area with a sealed, airtight enclosure fitted with negative air generating units. Air monitoring is also recommended immediately following accidental disturbance of asbestos containing material (ACM).

Air monitoring demonstrates that the safe level of 0.01 fibres/ml is not exceeded. If air monitoring results determine 0.02 fibres/ml, SafeWork SA must be notified.

Clearance air monitoring continues after the ACM has been completely removed and the work area has passed a satisfactory visual inspection in order to determine if the area is safe to reoccupy by unprotected individuals.

Our Licenced Asbestos Assessors perform the membrane filter method to analyse samples taken on site.  DEMS has international proficiency certification for identifying asbestos and the DEMS Team are authorised for work with the South Australian Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) and listed with SafeWork SA.

DEMS documentation including air monitoring reports and Clearance Certificates will be issued and should be retained with the  Asbestos Management Plan to record evidence that all works have been conducted in accordance with regulations.

This process is critical for protecting workers, preventing airborne fibre exposure and ensuring the site meets regulatory obligations before any structural work commences.
